For the general public who frequently shop online, you are surely familiar with the 7-Day Cooling-Off Period. However, please note that there are seven situations where it does not apply! We will detail each of these situations below, with examples provided by the "Shopee Shopping Platform Appreciation Period Guidelines" to help you understand better. Let's get started! 🛍️✨
1. Goods that are prone to spoilage, have a short shelf life, or are about to expire at the time of contract cancellation.
💡Example: Fresh produce such as fruits and vegetables that can spoil quickly.
💡How to define food that is about to expire?
👉Items that have less than one-third of their shelf life remaining.
2. Customized items are made according to the consumer's request.
💡Example: Customized personal name stamp
💡Legislative rationale: Through the customized ordering process, the consumer's purchase is specifically tailored, and once returned, it cannot be resold to others.
3. Newspapers, periodicals, or magazines.
💡Legislative rationale: These types of publications often have a limited shelf life, and their value diminishes once the period has passed.
4. Audio or video products or computer software that have been unsealed by the consumer.
💡Once audio or video products or computer software have been unsealed and are in a replicable state, even if returned, they cannot achieve the effect of a refund.
💡Example provided by Shopee shopping platform: Once the product warranty registration is completed, it cannot be reversed. Please confirm that there is no return requirement for the product before proceeding with the warranty process.
5. Digital content that is not provided on a tangible medium or online services that are completed upon provision, with the consumer's prior consent.
💡Example: E-books or online streaming services that are accessed immediately after purchase.
💡Legislative rationale: Due to the nature of digital content or services, which can be downloaded and accessed immediately upon consumer consent, they are inherently difficult to return.
6. Personal hygiene products that have been unsealed.
💡Example: Unpacked razor or sanitary items.
7. International air passenger services.
💡Example: Tickets for international flights
By keeping these exceptions in mind, you can better understand when the 7-day appreciation period does not apply and plan your online purchases accordingly. 🛒
However, in addition to the examples mentioned above, there are still various forms of online transactions. Next time, we will specifically explain some special cases (such as second-hand auctions, and purchasing agents), and invite everyone to determine together whether the 7-day appreciation period applies!
