Our center is dedicated to promoting both on-campus and international teaching collaborations. This year, we are honored to serve as a conference partner for the Emily Dickinson International Society and Wenshan International Conference, and to participate in the session “Section 3C – Teaching Dickinson,” actively fostering cross-border educational exchange and academic dialogue.
This session echoes the core mission of English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) and was initiated by Cheryl Weaver and Wendy Tronrud, both Board Members of the Emily Dickinson International Society (EDIS). As coordinators of the EDIS pedagogy group, they collaborated with our center to promote innovative EMI course design, enhance intercultural communication, and foster student engagement and critical thinking. Whether your interests lie in AI-enhanced instruction, English language pedagogy, curriculum development, or teacher education, this session offers rich insights and practical resources—making it a key event for anyone invested in the transformation of EMI teaching.
This session embodies international collaboration as well, bringing together scholars and educators from the United States, Norway, and Taiwan. It explores creative and cross-cultural approaches to teaching Dickinson’s poetry. Topics include comic-based instruction, AI-powered pedagogy, ecologically themed letter teaching, poetry in teacher training programs, and young children’s responses to nature in verse. The diversity of perspectives and case studies presented breathe new life into literature education.
In a time when artificial intelligence and educational creativity are shaping new frontiers, we invite you to join us in entering the poetic world of Emily Dickinson, discovering the ecological sensibilities within her work, and engaging with contemporary innovations in teaching!
